Malgorzata Dukat: Following engineering and MS degrees from T. Kościuszko Technical University, she earned her PhD in Medicinal Chemistry from the Nicolaus Copernicus Academy of Medicine, Jagiellonian University, and conducted her research at the Institute of Pharmacology, Polish Academy of Science, Krakow. Subsequent to postdoctoral training in medicinal chemistry and pharmacology she was appointed Assistant Professor in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry at VCU where she is currently Professor, and has mentored undergraduate, PharmD, graduate (MS and PhD) students, and postdoctoral fellows, and has published extensively on the design, synthesis, and evaluation of central nervous system agents with emphasis on novel mechanisms in pain, depression, and drug abuse treatment, she was elected (2015) a Kościuszko Eminent Scientist.
